Home and School Visits – Masvingo

Visit to Best’s Home and School

We visited Best at both his homestead and school in Masvingo to assess his progress and collect content for our Christmas fundraising initiative.

  • At Home:Best’s carer reported that he is doing well and exhibits commendable behavior. He participates actively in household chores, including farming, gardening, and tending to livestock. He is receiving mentorship from his uncle, who is teaching him gardening. Spiritually, Best has shown growth, as he now prays on his own and engages in church activities.

  • At School:Teachers, including Mr. Zano (Agriculture) and Mr. Nyengera (Woodwork), praised Best’s sociability, responsibility, and communication skills. He is particularly passionate about agricultural tasks such as weeding, ploughing, and watering crops. Both teachers noted his strong work ethic and increasing independence.

Visit to Brighton’s Home and School

Brighton was also visited at his homestead and school in Masvingo.

  • At Home:Brighton’s carer described him as sociable and communicative. He is now able to walk independently—an encouraging milestone—and he has also grown spiritually. She emphasized the need for continued support during school holidays to sustain his progress.

  • At School:His teacher highlighted that Brighton’s mobility tends to regress during holidays, underscoring the importance of consistent support. He enjoys school activities such as card matching and coloring. His physical development has improved and could benefit from more household chores to enhance his strength. Both his carer and teacher expressed gratitude for his spiritual growth.

Activities Conducted During the Outreach

Visit to Mai Austin’s Home (Masvingo)

The team visited to offer condolences after the passing of Austin and to share hope with the surrounding community. About 30 people were reached, including two children with disabilities.

  • Pastor Biswick shared from John 9:2–3, encouraging the community by emphasizing that disability is not a curse but an opportunity for God’s glory. He reminded attendees that every individual has purpose and value. After his message, 9 people gave their lives to Christ.

  • The social worker reinforced the value of community (Unhu/Ubuntu) and emphasized the importance of collective support for children.

  • The team distributed Christmas hampers and later visited Austin’s grave to pay final respects.

Visit to Mai Sekai and Ano’s Home (Masvingo)

The team visited Sekai and her brother Ano to celebrate Sekai’s birthday and offer Christmas support.

  • Pastor Biswick delivered a message on God’s power through people with disabilities, followed by prayer.

  • Sekai received a birthday cake, and Ano a toy.

  • The social worker obtained consent to document Ano’s story. He has muscular dystrophy, uses a tablet for school, and dreams of becoming an engineer. His family is in need of a laptop, printer, and blender due to a recent house fire.

  • Hampers were presented to the family, who expressed deep gratitude.

Visit to Beatrice (Brighton, Kevin, Talent, and Carlos’ Community)

With the help of Councilor Dube and Sabhuku Dzavanhu, a total of 30 people were reached in Beatrice, and 23 gave their lives to Christ.

  • Pastor Biswick shared a message of strength through weakness, followed by prayer and the distribution of gospel literature.

  • The social worker encouraged the community’s ubuntu spirit and highlighted the need for continuous care for children with disabilities.

  • New cases were identified, including a child named Ruth who needs a wheelchair and speech therapy, and Carlos, aged 6, who needs to start school and receive physiotherapy.
